The sensation of acupuncture varies from person to person. Upon needle insertion, some people feel a tiny prick & often times people feel nothing at all. It is relatively painless! Some people feel the movement of Qi energy along the energy channel.

  • Does acupuncture hurt?

No, acupuncture does not hurt. I use very thin needles for your sessions. However, some areas of the body may be more sensitive (ears, fingers, toes). If anything hurts or is uncomfortable, please let me know and I can remove or adjust the needle.

  • What should I wear to my appointment?

I highly recommend dressing in comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. For some treatments, I may need to access points on your arms, legs, feet, abdomen, or your back.

  • How often do I need acupuncture?

This is unique for everyone and it depends on your individual health condition, severity of symptoms, your response to treatment, and your health goals. Some people feel better after 1 session, some people need a few more. Regular acupuncture visits are recommended for maintenance.

FAQ - Cosmetic Acupuncture

  • Is cosmetic acupuncture right for me?

Cosmetic acupuncture is a great option for those who want to achieve a more youthful and vibrant appearance, naturally. It is a natural alternative for filling in fine lines and wrinkles and is perfect for those who seek non-invasive treatments.

  • How is cosmetic acupuncture different from traditional acupuncture?

Both cosmetic acupuncture and traditional acupuncture differ in their focus, techniques, and treatment goals. Cosmetic acupuncture focuses on using points on the face & body to promote a more youthful and radiant complexion, diminish fine lines and wrinkles, improve muscle tone, and decrease hyperpigmentation.

  • What if I have filler or botox?

It is recommended to wait at least 2 weeks after your botox or filler appointment to get any cosmetic acupuncture done. Personally, I say 4 weeks is best. Regular cosmetic acupuncture treatments can actually complement such aesthetic procedures by promoting overall skin health, circulation, and relaxation.

  • Can I wear makeup to my appointment?

It is best to avoid wearing makeup to your cosmetic acupuncture appointment, especially because I will be needling directly into the facial area. It is best for me to work on clean, bare skin. Makeup can potentially introduce bacteria or other contaminants to the skin, increasing the risk of infection or irritation. Either way, I will cleanse your face prior to the treatment.

  • How many sessions will I need to see results?

The number of sessions depends on several factors, including your individual skin condition, your overall health, and your treatment goals. For your best results, I recommend at least 10 weekly sessions. 10-12 sessions are standard for more dramatic and longer lasting result.

  • Are there any contraindications?

It is best to avoid any cosmetic acupuncture treatments if you are pregnant, are taking any blood thinning, medications or supplements, bleeding disorders, bruise excessively, uncontrolled high blood pressure, diabetes, migraines, dizziness, seizures, epilepsy, and cancer.
